Hi, I’m Kate, founder of VANLINNEN.

I’ve always felt deeply connected to nature, natural materials, and the outdoors. After attending a silent retreat in 2019 and spending time fully immersed in nature, I returned with a new awareness of how disconnected our homes, especially in city life, had become from the natural world.

That experience inspired me to bring more nature into people’s homes. I began by transforming my own home in Amsterdam, discovering how natural linen could completely change the feeling of a space, making it feel softer, calmer, warmer, and more connected to nature.

Wanting to share that feeling with others, I created VANLINNEN, a brand dedicated to timeless 100% European linen curtains and Roman blinds. Linen is a remarkable natural material, valued for its understated elegance, durability, and sustainable origins. Naturally breathable, hypoallergenic, and resistant to dust accumulation, it helps create a healthier and more comfortable indoor environment. Its rich texture, beautiful drape, and soft light-filtering qualities bring warmth and serenity to a space, complementing Japandi, Wabi-Sabi, Nordic, and contemporary interiors alike. Linen also helps regulate temperature and humidity throughout the seasons and, unlike many fabrics, becomes softer and even more beautiful with age.

Today, VANLINNEN works with homeowners and interior designers across the Netherlands and Europe to create timeless window treatments rooted in natural materials, craftsmanship, and a deeper connection to nature.

All VANLINNEN curtains and Roman blinds are handcrafted in a small European atelier and tailored to each home with exceptional care. By creating made-to-order pieces designed to last for decades, we embrace mindful consumption and a slower, more natural way of living.
